It’s important to become dues-paying members of the Lavender Democrats because: 1. We can’t survive without you. Dues are a major source of club revenue. 2. Membership dues are put toward our ability to participate in, and put on, events such as Drag Bingo, No Kings, Pride, Trans Day of Remembrance, and other special events. 3. If we want to have a voice, we must have paying members. 4. Under the bylaws of the Democratic Party of Orange County, our power to participate in both the county and state parties is proportional to the number of dues-paying members we have. 5. The number of “home club” members also give us voting power within the county and state parties. a. It’s important to choose us as your home club. Members of the county’s Democratic clubs can only have one home club, so please don’t attempt to double dip. 6. Members-in-good-standing (aka dues-paying members) can vote yay/nay when the board brings a motion before the club. a. Motions may include supporting candidates, deciding on whether we want to contribute to campaigns, and other actions. 7. The board members will email, call, or text you reminders for the next club meeting as well as for special events (like Drag Bingo!).
